Ladies, You Shouldn’t Be Wearing Two Sports Bras

Alright, ladies, let’s have a little chat. Shall we? Raise your hand if you’ve ever been out running, or at the gym and noticed a lady was wearing two sports bras? Raise your hand if you’ve ever been in a conversation with a lady and she mentioned: “Oh, I have to wear two sports bras because I haven’t found one that supports me enough.” And finally, raise your hand if you have ever worn (or still wear) two sports bras to workout or run in? Next question: Is it comfortable to wear two sports bras? I’m pretty sure I hear a resounding “NO!” as you read this. Continue reading →

Five Ways to Use Your Phone for Fitness (Not Just Apps!)

For the past month, or so, I’ve been carrying around 2 phones. One is my regular Samsung Galaxy S that I’ve had for almost 2 years. The other is the incomparable Motorola DROID Razr HD I got through Verizon’s Health and Fitness Voices Program as an ambassador.  I was pretty impressed with it when I first got it a few weeks ago and was like a kid in a candy story playing with all the features and discovering what it could do. Now, a few weeks later, and I am EVEN MORE in love with it and I’ve discovered 5 ways to use it to be fit. Continue reading →

Say Hello to one of the Newest Verizon Voices Health and Fitness Bloggers

By the time you read this post, I’ll have enjoyed a great weekend in Chicago at the Hard Rock Hotel, ran the largest 8K race in the world (Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle!) and met 18 other fun and fabulous bloggers who were also selected to be a part of the Verizon Voices Health and Fitness program. Build a Home Gym with Less Than Fifty Dollars

I think one of the best things about working out and being fit is that you don’t HAVE to have a gym membership to sweat. Running and walking are free, and your own body is one of the best pieces of workout equipment. But… it doesn’t hurt to have a few tools in your arsenal to help you meet your goals. I’m a big fan of workouts that require little to no equipment at all and don’t require you to pay $50 a month for a gym membership. So, I tried to think of the key pieces I have and use pretty often when I do my at-home workouts. After thinking for a bit, I realized that the items I use the most are pretty inexpensive and you can get them pretty much ANYWHERE! So… here are 4 starter items you can get for under $50 to start building your own personal home gym. Continue reading →

A shoe for yoga?

That’s what I thought when I first saw the Nike Studio Wrap on Pinterest about a month ago. I was definitely intrigued. Especially since I’ve begun to really increase my yoga practice. So, when I got the invite a few weeks ago to come and experience the new Studio Wrap at the new Chicago Nike Training Club location in Lincoln Park (located at 833 W. Armitage), I was pretty excited! The store itself is extremely impressive and you can tell the folks from Nike Chicago really put their hearts into making it welcoming, feminine and boutique-style. I love it! Continue reading →
