Game On, World: Introducing Nike+ Training

Just when I thought the Nike+ line of products and interactive community couldn’t get any better…

I was wrong.

Nike has done it again. And I believe this particular product is going to revolutionize the way we move and the way we think about working out. I may have even said all those words before about Nike+ when trying to explain all of its awesomeness to my friends, but this one is definitely raising the bar. Again.

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of events, opportunities, marking things off my bucket list, and getting exclusive access to products I never could imagine. On June 23rd, Nike helped to celebrate and commemorate the 40th anniversary of Title IX which was the landmark decision by the U.S. legislation that opened the door for females everywhere to pursue their passion and dreams in athletics. Nike released a video entitled “Voices”. In an event leading up to the anniversary of the landmark decision, I got the opportunity to view the video here in Chicago and was almost brought to tears. It made me realize just how easy it was for me to dream about being in the Olympics while I ran track in high school, or to go out for the basketball team even though I didn’t have much skill. Check out the very inspirational video below:

“Voices” reflects on some of the challenges athletes like Lisa Leslie and Joan Benoit Samuelson faced on their journeys to Olympic gold medals or championships. And as the film progresses it spotlights young girls who embody the spirit of women in sport of the future in a “play by your own rules” attitude. You may have even seen the hashtag #MakeTheRules being tweeted and shared all over the place. The #MakeTheRules attitude continues to remind me that I don’t have to fit any standard or mold when it comes to what I’m pursuing in my athletics. I can do my own thing and still inspire and succeed.

So, while we were at the event celebrating Title IX and honoring those women who’ve gone on to achieve amazing things in sports, we were introduced to and got to try out Nike’s most recent addition to the Nike+ family: The Nike+ Training. If I were to attempt to explain this newest revolution, I would do it no justice. Check out the video:

These shoes are SO COOL! Imagine putting on some shoes, turning on an app, and being able to do the drills or the workout one of your favorite athletes does as they’re practicing and getting ready for greatness. Imagine getting previously unknown data wirelessly transmitted to your phone through the Nike+ Training app about either your workout or your game. And imagine turning your workout into a game with insights from Rafa Nadal, Manny Pacquiao, Allyson Felix, Hope Solo, Shawn Johnson and Lebron James.

The new shoe and app will launch tomorrow – June 29th, and I highly suggest that if you’ve been looking to change up your routine, challenge yourself, get stronger, quicker and faster or to see how you stack up against some of your favorite elite athletes or even just your friends, get your hands on this shoe immediately.

I got to try it and was so sad when I had to take the shoe off. I wanted to try out ALL of the workouts included in the FREE app. Olympic gymnast Shawn Johnson’s (pictured above) explosive workout had me sweating something serious, but I was ready for more.

As I stated before, Nike has once again revolutionized how we move and track our success. We have more and more information about ourselves and each of our workouts at our fingertips. I am beyond excited to see how this shoe and technology will change the fitness game. Game on, World.

Be Renewed!
