Going Strong at 73 – Ernestine Shepherd
A fellow fitness friend of mine sent me a picture of an older woman with abs that were out of this world and a smile that lit up my computer screen. When I asked my friend who this was, she said it was a 73 year-old body builder. I had to get her story right away.
“Amazed” and “inspired” are only two words that describe the feeling I encountered after watching the video and reading the article about Mrs. Shepherd. To go from a sedentary secretary to one of the most influential fitness role models in her community is awe-inspiring. But what hit me the hardest were the reactions and commentary of the citizens she interacts with on a daily basis. Mrs. Shepherd’s ambition to give back and get her community moving will hopefully and more than likely lead to a reduction in the cases of diabetes, high-blood pressure, high cholesterol and obesity among her peers. She is a hero in my book and I aspire to be as influential, strong, and beautiful as she is.
Learn how a sedentary, well-padded school secretary, at age 56, transformed herself into a professional model, personal trainer and award-winning competitive bodybuilder at 73 gorgeous years. You’ll be amazed by Ernestine’s fit and youthful appearance in this article. Put her age-blasting techniques to use in your life. Ernestine’s story is here.

Wow…that is truly impressive!
I had the pleasure of meeting this amazing woman yesterday and I tell you, she is INCREDIBLY humble. Just seeing her is an inspiration but she willingly answered questions, gave advice, and talked about rising at 3 a.m. to ready God’s Word before starting her day. She has encouraged me to adopt her motto “Determined, Dedicated, Disciplined To Be Fit” in my own life. Thank you for this great article.
She is so inspirational. Thank you, thank you for posting this. She makes me feel good about getting older and continuing with my excerise regimen.
You are SO welcome! I’m glad it was able to inspire you to continue what you are doing. It just goes to show that it’s never too late to begin to get fit. We just have to put our minds to it and realize what our potential is. Keep it up, and be renewed!
