Monday Motivation: Paul Simon – Call Me Al
Paul Simon has got to be one of my most favorite artists from my childhood. My mother introduced Paul Simon’s “Graceland” album to my siblings and I a couple of years after it came out (1986). I remember her being so excited because he’d done a few songs with one of her favorite South African acapella groups Ladysmith Black Mambazo. The memories I have of this particular song are full of joy and dancing and laughing and happy times. I know it sounds so cheesy, right? But the song itself is just awesome. And Paul Simon is a phenomenal artist with decades worth of amazing and unforgettable music. I love watching this video and watching the crowd dance and go wild. There are certain songs you hear throughout life that you’ll never forget. For me, this is one of them.
I guess this song is considered “motivation” in my eyes because every time I hear it, I feel happy and almost forget about what I might be facing or going through. I remember dancing in the living room while I was vacuuming on a Saturday morning. I remember summer trips to Memphis and playing this album in the car. I remember betting with my brother on who had learned ALL the words to this song.
Great memories, great song. I hope this inspires/motivates you somehow.
Be Renewed
