Monday Motivation – Raphael Saadiq: Love That Girl
“Love That Girl” is definitely on my playlist of “songs that make my mood better”. It is, no doubt, one of the best songs on Raphael’s The Way I See It album. It seems as though Raphael Saadiq took a 60′s, old school R & B style with these songs and he most definitely succeeded in a achieving feel-good, down-home, let’s-just-have-a-good-time kind of vibe. I chose this song for this week also because Raphael Saadiq was one of the acts during this year’s Lollapalooza weekend, here in Chicago. Unfortunately I missed him perform, but from what I heard, he was phenomenal! ( I wouldn’t doubt it…)
I ran into this song and dubbed it a great walking song when I’d just ended the running portion of one of my morning interval runs. As soon as I’d slowed down a bit and started to walk, this song came on my iPod. The up-tempo beat of the base drum that drives the music was perfect for the speed I was going for. (Listen for that base drum!) Not only that, but the words to this song are so sweet and I sometimes imagine myself as the girl he’s singing to in the juke joint. Yea, I know that’s a little ridiculous, but hey, a girl can dream! Enjoy and Be Renewed!
This video is a live taping of the song on AOL Black Voices. I love the dance moves and energy coming from the stage! Awesome song!

I absolutely adore Raphael Sadiq’s album: The Way I See It. It’s a permanent staple in my car’s cd changer.
LOVE THIS! Just what I needed.
