“Hear your heart. Heart your health.” ~Faith Seehill
Most of you already know, I’m a stickler for being healthy, staying fit and making better choices when it comes to food and nutrition. I’m also someone who finds every opportunity to help those around me meet their goals in the best way possible, so when I heard about the “Sweetheart Health Challenge” in Chicago on Twitter last week, I got MAJORLY excited. One of my goals for this year was to venture out of my comfort zone and jump on opportunities where my gift can be used and utilized in the best way possible. This is definitely one of those opportunities!
The “Sweetheart Health Challenge” is being initiated by Charrise Renee of Charrise Renee Development and Consulting. She’s affectionately known as a “Sweetheart” and most definitely embodies that role. Her inspiration for this fantastic idea comes from watching her mother go through Weight Watchers where she meets up with fellow Weight Watcher-ers and they go through their triumphs, struggles and goals for the next week. Charrise wanted this same atmosphere and support for everyone! So the 8-week “Sweetheart Health Challenge” was born and yours truly is the official “Fitness and Nutrition Expert” (or “Guru” as Charrise calls me, lol!) I humbly accept. I’ll be the go-to girl for any fitness and health questions, motivation, exercises, ideas for more specific goals, etc.
With all that said, I want YOU ALL to sign up for the challenge and make your fitness goals a reality. This challenge is designed to provide support (FOR FREE!) and make this journey toward a better body/mind/spirit easier. Details on the health challenge are below:
1) Everyone will set a unique health challenge for themselves, whether it be to lose weight, get toned, eat better, exercise more, drink more water, etc. (So get your 1 overall goal ready! Be specific!)
2)We will have weekly objectives to meet that will help with your overall health and wellness. Small habit-forming things that can be implemented daily. For example: Week 1- Drink half our body weight in ounces of water, everyday this week.
3) During the 8 weeks of the challenge, we will have a weekly Twitter chat about last week’s progress with a special hashtag. We can talk about what helped, how we suffered, motivating one another, anything that has to do with the challenge! This will create a support group for us all and we can build our online Twitter relationships and experiences. This is really great for those who don’t live in the Chicago area. Online community, for the win!
4) Bi-weekly for those in the Chicago area, we will do a FitNFun Tweet-Up where we do a fitness-related activity. From hot yoga, boxing, Zumba, Just Dance on the Wii, etc. For those in other cities, you can go to the same activity in your area and join in on the fun. Later in the week, you can share your experience with us! If you need help finding a local activity for you to participate in, please let @CharriseRenee know! She will do her best to help you find a similar fitness experience! ;-D
5) At the end of the challenge, we will have a Tweet-Up celebration! We will talk about our overall progress. What worked for us and what didn’t and have a great time at some awesome venue which is to be discussed! (There may even be Double-Dutch involved, but you didn’t hear that from me!)
So, now you know all the details, why not go into the 3rd month of the year with (another) new start? I’ll admit, I’ve “fallen off” a bit since January and need a small kick in the pants. A challenge will do the trick. And having folks help me be accountable to myself will help me even more. Summer is coming and cute dresses, shorts and tanks, vacations on the beach and various running events are calling my name. Let’s make the next 8 weeks full of win!
